Tryp Review – Why Tryp Will Be A DISASTER

Welcome to my Tryp review. Tryp is a rideshare opportunity, kind of like Uber or Lift. The BIG difference is that Tryp has a network marketing program attached to it. Barely in prelaunch Tryp is already ruffling feathers with accusations about just how legit this program is. There is also a storm brewing over the fact that the app still has not been launched. Some people are questioning whether Tryp is real.

Tryp is headed up by dot com millionaire and former Navy Seal, Robert Mcnulty.

Tryp have commissions for Tryp fares. They also have a networking marketing compensation plan, that rewards affiliates with residual income.

Once you read the review, you will be able to decide if Tryp is one of the many legitimate ways to make money onlineI do not promote, nor I am I affiliated with Tryp.

Tryp – Summary

Key Figures: Robert Mcnulty

Product Type: Rideshare.

Summary: To earn as an affiliate, you pay $250 set up cost which includes your first month and $199 per month thereafter. If you refer 3 drivers and they are active, this fee is waived.

See The Comp Plan Here.

Robert McNulty made a fortune during the dot com boom and has decades of business experience. Despite this, Tryp seems to have completely disregarded FTC and SEC compliance.

Rating: D

Verdict: A bold concept which ignores regulatory obligations. There is plenty of money to be made by some people, however Tryp will not go the distance.

Quick Navigation

What Is Tryp?

In many ways Tryp is a very interesting albeit flawed concept. There is no doubt that Uber and Lyft drivers would be very tempted to join Tryp. This is particularly true when you consider that a lot of Uber drivers feel like they get exploited by the Uber model. They already are out an about in their cars and they probably know other Uber drivers that they could sign up as Tryp affiliates.

Let’s take a look at how Tryp works.

Tryp Membership Types

App User

It is free to download the Tryp App and use it to book a Tryp driver. You can pick a preferred driver which you cannot do with Uber. This will be a big challenge for traditional rideshare companies because their current drivers will be able to convince customers to download Tryp based on it’s ability to match riders with a preferred driver.

Driver

$250 set up cost which includes your first month.

$199 per month thereafter. If you refer 3 drivers and they are active, this fee is waived.

Influencer

Yearly fee of $149 which gives you acesss to marketing tools like drip emails, SMS campaigns and lead capture pages.

Driver Inluencer

Costs $399 to set up then $199 monthly. It gives you everything from Driver and Influencer, plus stock option bonuses. The big difference is that you can now earn residual weekly income as per the comp plan. You will have to pay the $199 monthly even if you have 3 active drivers.

Compensation Plan

Direct Referrals

When you refer somebody to Tryp you will receive on average $0.40 per ride taken by that person.

First Order Bonus

If you refer Tryp to drivers, you get $50 for every referral that becomes a Tryp driver. A driver is really just an affiliate. I don’t think they are required to actually drive.

What I Like About Tryp

Much Better Deal For Current Rideshare Drivers

I always felt that Uber and Lyft drivers were getting exploited. If they are already doing lots of fares, I expect they could easily double their income by switching over to Tryp. If I was a busy Uber driver I would start pitching Tryp to all my passengers. The I would do it by filling my car with free chips and drinks which are available if passengers download the app. You would tell them how to select you as a preferred driver also.

Strong Compensation Plan

This is one of those comp plans that gives me a tingly excited feeling in my stomach. If you are smart, you could clean up with Tryp.

What I dislike about Tryp

Let’s Anger ALL The Regulators At Once!

Whilst Uber has had it’s fair share of battles in the past they never picked any battles that they couldn’t adapt and recover from. If Uber had attempted to be an MLM company, it would have been completely wiped out.

Tryp are unashamedly 100% committed to the MLM model and it’s going to be a big problem.

Think about it, why are you going to battle traffic jams and put mileage wear on your car for chump change when you can just promote the “opportunity”.

Drivers are really just affiliates as they are not required to drive at all. Furthermore they are not required to have retail customers. The rideshare is just the vehicle for the residual income opportunity. The FTC will have a big problem with what Tryp are doing because it fits their definition of a pyramid scheme, which is illegal.

If FTC risk isn’t enough Tryp has residual income and stock options which amounts to selling unlicensed securities. This means that the SEC will be racing the FTC to deliver a cease and desist of their own.

What Happens When Nobody Is Actually Driving?

Try seems to encourage all it’s drivers to stop driving. All the drivings will be signing up people on the monthly subscriptions which drive the residual income. I cant see Tryp doing much driving at all after this gets going. It will end up be just a pyramid scheme with very few drivers actually out on the roads.

The Real Deal With Tryp

Look I think its an idea that will take off. It will attract plenty of disgruntled Uber drivers. Unfortunately, they are thumbing their noses at the SEC and the FTC which will cause Tryp to self destruct when the authorities get involved.

Verdict

Enjoy it while it lasts. D

How I Make A Living

I have developed a strategy using a legitimate affiliate program that allows me to hangout at home with the kids all day.

Drivers are retail customers of Tryp.

Drivers are also retail customers of Uber and Lyft, but Uber and Lyft treat drivers so horribly, it’s hard to believe that they would treat their customers that way.

Uber, Lyft and Tryp charge riders a booking fee to request a ride, and they charge drivers a service fee to be matched to ride requests. Booking fees and service fees are all retail sales.

The only affiliates of Tryp are influencers.

Thanks, that was a good comment. What I want to know is what is going to encourage drivers to drive. What are stop influencers from hunting other affiliates. Their is no incentives to get people driving. I feel like they are designed to have virtually no one driving

If Tryp gets riders, then drivers will naturally want to drive for Tryp. If Tryp doesn’t get riders, then drivers naturally won’t want to drive for Tryp.

If Tryp has enough riders to keep drivers happy, then full time drivers will prefer driving for Tryp rather than Uber or Lyft, because full time drivers only keep 75% of Uber’s (and Lyft’s) rates. Tryp’s rates will be 1 to 2% lower than Uber’s rates in each market, and Tryp drivers keep 100% of the Tryp rates. So each Tryp driver makes 98% of Uber’s rates instead of 75% like they do on Uber. The $199 service fee to be a Tryp driver starts them out in the whole, but as soon as they do $848 in Tryp fares (which would have been $649 for the same work on Uber), they made $199 more than they would on Uber, and every fare they take after that for the month earns them more than driving for Uber.

I get what your saying that why drive when being an influencer is more lucrative… but I disagree. It won’t. Every inlfuencer needs three personally enrolled active drivers in order to qualify for their residual income. That means they could be at the top of the matrix and have enough retail volume below them to qualify for a ton of money, but if they don’t have three personally enrolled active drivers, they get $0.

It’s going to be very difficult for influencers to always have three personally enrolled active drivers for two reasons:

      1) Studies have shown 96% of rideshare drivers do the work for less than a year before quitting. So the turnover in this industry is HUGE. Influencers are going to playing a game of whack a mole trying to keep 3 personally enrolled drivers active.
      2) Tryp drivers that are not inlfuencers also want 3 personally enrolled active drivers, because then they save $199 per month. So not only are influencers competing with other influencers to sign up drivers, they are competing with the non-influencer drivers too.

At best only 25% of the influencers and drivers will have 3 personally enrolled active drivers, and that assumes those that qualify have three and only three, and those that don’t qualify have zero. Given a lot will have 1 or 2, and some with 3 will actually have 4, 5, 10, 20+…. It’s likely that 10% or less of influencers and drivers will have 3 personally enrolled active drivers and qualify for their residual income or free monthly driver fee.

With so few of the influencers qualifying for their residual income, that actually makes being a driver for Tryp the best way to earn income with Tryp.

There is a qualifying amount of drives to be considered a driver. You must drive at least 20 trips a month to be considered a driver.

If they can manage being able to get register stocks with the sec with the issues the ceo has had with previous battles with the sec they can become a profitable business with real securities that pays off after the time of the vested period the tryp drivers invested in them so those shares are the drivers.

  4. Kerry D Soat

Stock options are not securities. Stocks are. They are not selling stock options but rather giving them away for performance. I think you’ll find a lot of companies provide stock options to their employees before they go public. In the United States, a security is a tradable financial asset of any kind.
Typically, employee stock options are issued by the company and cannot be sold.
Stock options are a benefit often associated with startup companies, which may issue them in order to reward early employees when and if the company goes public. They are awarded by some fast-growing companies as an incentive for employees to work towards growing the value of the company’s shares. Stock options can also serve as an incentive for employees to stay with the company. The options are canceled if the employee leaves the company before they vest. ESOs do not include any dividend or voting rights.
So your opinion of the SEC getting involved is false since no security is involved.

roflmao, umm, no. Where did you get that info, which by the way, interesting Tryp Technologies is using DBA Tryp Rides and somehow I think Tryp Hotels might have a problems with Tryp using their name.

Not everyone is going to want to be the one to promote. Some of us just want to be able to drive without being ripped off. If there are people out there who excel at talking to others, then power to them. Most of us who drive actually have panic disorder when it comes to pushing a product or doing any type of sales pitch.

This company has come a long way since this was written. HOWEVER, they still have a ways to go. I believe they will be successful if they just don’t push the referral and concentrate on great customer service to both the drivers and the riders.
